The first inhabitants of the Masies de Roda were the Iberians. If you visit the Esquerda site you can see many elements that date from both this period and the medieval era. In 1805 it separated from the neighboring town of Roda de Ter. Its main economic activity is agriculture with a clear predominance of rainfed crops such as cereals or legumes. Walking through its fields you will see buildings such as the El Bac farmhouse, a 13th century manor house. On the outskirts of the town is the ice pit, an 18th century structure that was used to store ice.
One of the most outstanding works of the Catalan Romanesque is the monastery of Sant Pere de Casserres. Its beginnings date back to 1015 and it was founded by the Viscounts of Osona-Cardona. Unfortunately, in 1428 it suffered an earthquake that destroyed the cloister and caused the north nave to fall. However, in 1998 it was restored and you can see outbuildings such as the Romanesque church or the cloister.
The Ter river marks life in Masies de Roda. If you get close to its shore you will find many paths that you can do both on foot and by bike and that will allow you to see the native flora and fauna. In fact, there are trails that follow its path and reach Manlleu.
