The beginnings of the population go back to the year 1000 around the castle. Between the 13th and 14th centuries the Jewish quarter was of great importance. One of the main attractions of the town is that it preserves its medieval structure while also having an important natural heritage. La Llacuna is also known for producing high quality wines under the DO Penedès. You can't leave without trying the artisan sausage either.
If you want to enjoy splendid views of the town, you have to go up to Vilademàger Castle. The first written documents where it is amended are from the year 987. It stands out for its combination of Romanesque and Gothic elements. During the Spanish Civil War it was badly damaged. Currently, a part of the wall, the access portal and the remains of the tribute tower remain. The church of Sant Pere de Vilademàger is also preserved inside, a building with a single nave that houses Romanesque elements such as the baptismal font.
Walking through the territory of the Llacuna you will find different paths and trails that allow you to enjoy a unique natural environment. One of the best known itineraries is the Fonts route. It is a path that crosses more than fifty sources in the area that have excellent water quality. Some of the best known are the Cuitora spring with waters that have diuretic properties, the Cal Marquet spring or the Miramon spring.
