Remains of prehistoric settlements have been found in the Can Paloma cave . On the other hand, remains of the Roman presence have also been found. However, it is not until the year 985 when the first written documents appear where the town is mentioned. In the town center of Esparreguera you can see buildings such as the church of Santa Eulàlia. It was built in 1612 and on its main facade you can see a ceramic mural by Enric Serra.

Popular fairs and festivals are deeply rooted in Esparreguera. Apart from the Passion, you must also see the festival of the Three Tombs or the craft fair. Don't miss out on the night of Sant Joan where it is tradition to light the bonfires with the Canigó Flame.

Visit the Theater of the Passion

The representation of the Esparreguera Passion is one of the most well-known cultural events in the municipality. Its beginnings go back centuries. In fact, it wasn't until 1969 that the show had its own theater. The capacity of the theater is 1747 spectators and its stage is one of the largest in Catalunya. Within its program you can also see ballet works, concerts or other shows.

Take a hiking route

Esparreguera has many interesting places to discover. From the center of the town there are several hiking routes that allow you to see lush forests, vineyards or old parishes. One of the best known is the Camí dels Blaus , which ends at the Torrent dels Blaus and from where you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Montserrat mountain.
