The beginnings of the municipality go back to the 10th and 11th centuries. Cercs is very close to the Baells reservoir. In this space you can do a wide variety of water activities as well as observe a unique landscape. Depending on the time of year you can see the old Romanesque church that is submerged in the reservoir.

Visit the Mines Museum

The exploitation of coal has been one of the main economic activities of Cercs. In the Mines Museum you will discover what the coal production process was like in the mines and also that electricity was produced in the thermal power station. During the visit, there is a 500-metre journey underground through a gallery where the work inside the mine is shown.

Traditions and popular culture are deeply rooted in Cercs. For the Sant Jordi festival, buns are distributed at the Sant Jordi hermitage. Many aquatic activities are organized at the River Festival in La Baells.

Cercs houses architectural elements of great interest. One of the most outstanding buildings is the church of Sant Quirze de Pedret. It is one of the most important pre-Romanesque buildings in Catalonia. It dates from the 10th century and the entrance has two semi-circular arches. Very close by you will find a Gothic stone bridge and the Molí del Pedret.
