The name Casserres comes from the Latin word "castri serras" which means Castle Mountains. One of the main attractions of Casseres is that it preserves much of its medieval heritage. Around the center of the town you will find narrow and steep streets as well as houses with stone facades. From the highest part of the town you will enjoy magnificent views of the Llobregat valley. It is worth trying the gastronomy of the area based on traditional Catalan mountain dishes. We recommend the grilled meats and the different mushroom specialties.
One of the most emblematic buildings in Casserres is the church of Sant Pau. It is a Romanesque building that is in a good state of conservation and houses a baroque altarpiece of great interest. Although much of the population's economy comes from agriculture, industrial activity has also had great relevance. We recommend that you visit the industrial colony of Ametlla de Casserres, where you will find a neo-Gothic church.
The surroundings of Casserres offer many possibilities for nature lovers. Throughout the term you will find marked routes that you can do on foot, by mountain bike or on horseback. On the other hand, the proximity to the Baells swamp invites you to do water activities. If you get close to Pedraforca you can practice climbing or paragliding.
