Vestiges of Iberian villages have been found in the old town of Amposta. In fact, it is thought that below the municipality is Ibera, considered the first human settlement on the Iberian Peninsula . You should also know that rice cultivation started around 1860.

Amposta has a cultural and natural heritage of great value. The bridge that crosses the Ebre River is one of the most well-known elements of the municipality. The Torre de la Canova is an example of Gothic defensive architecture from the 14th century. The  Parc Natural del Delta de l'Ebre is one of the most important wetlands in Europe. Its flora and fauna are part of an ecosystem of great biological value. The lagoons of Encanyissada, Tancada or the island of Sapinya are a must-see. From the Amposta river dock you can take different routes along the Ebre River.

Visit the Museu de les Terres de l'Ebre

Inaugurated in 2011, the Museu de les Terres de l'Ebre has a catalog of more than 20,000 items related to the nature, archeology or ethnology of the Ebre Delta. Through its exhibition rooms, you can find out what the area was like in prehistory and its subsequent evolution. In addition, numerous exhibitions and cultural activities related to life in the delta are held throughout the year.
