The past of Torrefeta i Florejacs
Until a few years ago,
Torrefeta i Florejacs belonged to two different municipalities. Today, it is made up of the towns of Bellveí, Florejacs (incorporated in 1972), Castellmejà, Gra,
Granollers, el Llor, la Morana, Palou, Riber, Sant Martí de la Morana, Sedó, Selvanera and Torrefeta. The capital of the municipality is Torrefeta.
The territory became a natural border between Saracens and Christians in the Middle Ages, so that many population centers arose around their
castles and defense towers .
What you can't miss in Torrefeta and Florejacs during your stay in a holiday cottage
Gra
This small town has a historic core with very old houses and streets and it is very interesting to visit the parish church of Sant Salvador rebuilt in the s. XVIII, but which preserves an apse from the primitive Romanesque construction.
Riber
In this small town located on the right bank of the Sió river, the stately house Can Solsona stands out, attached to the relatively modern church of Santa Anna.
Sedó
Sedó was already documented in the 11th century and is the largest town in the municipality. It is highly recommended to visit the parish church of Sant Donat and the hermitage of Santesmasses.
Bellveí
The castle of Bellveí (documented in the 11th century) that presided over the town was converted into a large renaissance-style castle in the 16th century. This piece of architecture captures all the curiosity of those who visit it, since what draws the most attention of the building is a marine detail on dry land, that is. out of the sea, and that's because to finish the castle, they put the rib of a whale, which with its three meters in length, still stands today. The parish church of Sant Jaume de Bellveí is also of interest.
Florejacs
The castle of Florejacs , from the year 1099, preserves little of its original structure, since in the s. XVI was converted into a large medieval castle with a defense tower. Still, it's a wonderful museum that includes the cellar, the dungeon, the collection room, the access to the secret passage, the weapons collection, the cardinal's room, the Sanllehi room or the long room.
Llor
It is well worth visiting Llor and discovering its historic core, around the old castle that crowned the town and visiting the Romanesque church of Sant Julià de Llor , which stands out for its apse and which was outside the closed town
Torrefeta
The village of Torrefeta preserves two semi-circular portals and large vaults that gave access to the enclosed town, in addition to some Gothic arches in the streets of the historic center. In Torrefeta is the church of Sant Amanç , generally in the Baroque style.
