The first written references to Querol date back to the year 988. Throughout its history it has been under the control of the county of Barcelona or the barony of Cervelló. Livestock activity is one of its main economic activities, however, there are also olive groves and vineyards.
Throughout the municipality you will find hiking routes for all levels. One of the most well-known is the one that goes to the Montagut area and reaches the Formigosa hill. Throughout the route you can enjoy a unique natural environment as well as splendid views.
El Querol still preserves much of its architectural heritage. Throughout its territory you will find castles and watchtowers that come from the Middle Ages. One of the most outstanding buildings is the Querol Castle. It stands out for being an Asset of Cultural Interest that still maintains elements such as the windows and pointed arches. Another building of interest is the Pinyana Castle. It dates from the 10th century and preserves part of its walls and the remains of its chapel.
Popular culture is deeply rooted in Querol. A clear example is the Sardanist gathering that is held in Valldossera during the month of April and that brings together dozens of participants. You can also take part in the many activities that are organized during the summer festival.
