The economy of Montcada and Reixac was based on agriculture, with a clear dominance of vine, potato and fruit crops. Nevertheless, from the year 1917 a strong industrial development took place. Commercial activity is also very important and throughout its territory you will find many establishments and large surfaces.

If you want to enjoy nature, you can approach the Can Cuiàs park. It is a green area of more than 22 hectares and is the gateway to the Collserola Park. It has different itineraries that you can do on foot or by bike and a viewpoint from which you can enjoy magnificent views of Montcada and Reixac.

Municipal Museum of Montcada

One of the most outstanding cultural spaces in Montcada and Reixac is the Municipal Museum of Montcada. It was inaugurated in 2003 and has as its mission the conservation and protection of the historical heritage of the municipality. In its collection you can find items from the Iberian town of Les Maleses or the Serralada de Marina Natural Park. On the other hand, there is a room dedicated to mineralogy and paleontology. Activities dedicated to children and adults are organized at the museum throughout the year.

Visit the Casa de les Aigües

In the past, the city of Barcelona had supply problems. During the 19th century, the architect Antoni Rovira i Trias built the Casa de les Aigües. It is a building in a marked modernist style that had a unique machinery that was dedicated to extracting and pumping water from the aquifers of the Besòs river towards Barcelona.
