The first written documents of Matadepera are from the year 959. If you approach the top of Sant Llorenç del Munt you will see a monastery whose temple and bell tower are preserved. You must also see the hermitage of Santa Agnès, a convent of religious women with abundant water wells inside. Matadepera has a natural environment very rich in flora and fauna. The Natural Park of Sant Llorenç i l'Obac was declared the first natural park in the entire Spanish state. Inside the park you will find many signposted routes that allow you to see unique flora and fauna. Its oak groves and pine trees stand out. Regarding the fauna there are species such as the salamander, the green snake, the robin or bats. Within the park there are also buildings of great historical value such as the Talamanca Castle or the Casa Nova de l'Obac.

Do the Camino dels Monjos

One of the routes with the most history in Matadepera is the path of the Monks. Its beginnings go back to the medieval period and it united the monasteries of Sant Cugat with that of Sant Llorenç del Munt. During the journey you will pass through towns such as Terrassa, Sant Quirze del Vallès or Sant Cugat del Vallès. This path has been used a lot by shepherds who came from the Pyrenees. On the other hand, you will see places of great beauty such as the summit of La Mola, from where you will have exceptional views.
