The municipality of La Palma d'Ebre is full of history. Although it is not clear when it was founded, written documentation has been found in 1262 granting the sale of the castle of Flix and La Palma by Jaume I Teresa Gil de Vidaure.

For many centuries it has been under the rule of Barcelona, given that it has a good strategic location and allowed the control of goods that crossed the Ebro River. All this means that this municipality has many historical monuments. Also its situation in a natural environment offers you the possibility of doing numerous activities on the river and in natural spaces.

Discover their churches

One of the oldest buildings in La Palma d'Ebre is l'Església de Santa Maria. It is a 12th century Romanesque building located in the center of town. L'Església Parroquial de l'Assumpció is a Renaissance-style monument where you can see a Baroque altarpiece that dates from the year 1700.

In the Casa de la Vila are the remains of the old prison, which is thought to have belonged to the old castle. Another place you can't miss is the Mural de la Font Vella . It is a work by Rossend Escolà Cubells that recreates the author's experiences in a rural environment.

A walk through natural places

La Palma de l'Ebre has a pine tree that is more than four hundred years old and was declared a monumental tree in 1991. Its trunk is the thickest in Catalunya. Near Embasament de la Palma you have an area equipped with tables and barbecues where you can also have picnics. On the other hand, you can do numerous hiking routes such as the one that goes from La Palma d'Ebre to Bovera where you can see engravings of Templar symbology along the way.
