The first written documents that refer to the town are from the 10th century. In the past it was known by the toponym of Isogal. If you want to see ancient prehistoric settlements you can take a trip to the Olopte caves. One of the attractions of this route are the magnificent views of the Cereta plain. For motor lovers, a Trial Championship and a classic motorbike show are organized in May.
Isòvol is on the edge of the Espai Natural Protegit dels Tossals d'Isòvol i Olopte. In this interior you can do all kinds of outdoor activities. On the one hand, there are many signposted hiking routes that pass through corners where you will discover unique flora and fauna. On the other hand, in the cave of Manent you can practice speleology.
Walking around the streets of Isòvol you will see houses with stone facades and typical mountain architecture. We recommend that you visit the Romanesque church of Santa Maria d'All. It is a building that has a large portal and a bell tower with a square base. Very close is the church of Sant Miquel, a neo-Romanesque construction with a single nave. Be sure to see the sanctuary of Santa Maria d'Isòvol, a building that combines the Baroque and Romanesque styles. On the outskirts of the village is the Devil's Bridge, a medieval bridge that is undergoing restoration.
