The first settlers of this territory were the Iberian tribes , probably the Lacetans of Eso, the current Isona.

On this Iberian population, the Roman city of Aeso is located, a small city but of great strategic importance due to its strong military character. Later, at the time of the Low Empire, the decline began with the crisis that began with Visigoth rule and culminated with the Saracen occupation.

The Christian reconquest was led by the troops of Arnau Mir de Tost, the founder of the viscounty of Àger. From here, the first historical documents already speak of the castles of Llordà, Benavent, Biscarri, Conques Figuerola and Sant Romà d'Abella.

A visit to the Conca Dellà Museum will provide you with a lot of information and curiosities about the ancient Roman city of Aeso and the paleontological remains of the dinosaurs that inhabited the area. In fact, in the old town of Isona , you can also see vestiges of the Roman city, such as the preserved wall lock and a defense tower, in addition to a series of tombstones, currently inserted in the walls of the Santa Maria church.

Llordà Castle is a magnificent example of Romanesque architecture. of the s. XI. It is considered one of the best preserved examples of non-religious architecture from the medieval period in Catalonia.

Also worth mentioning is the Orcau Castle , a s. XII-XIII which is divided into two areas, the castle and the church, united by a perimeter wall. This castle is not only important for its architectural elements. but also for its legal and administrative history, since it is one of the first documented domains where the transition from the county regime to the feudal regime can be observed.

On the other hand, Figuerola d'Orcau is a town that perfectly preserves its structure as a medieval closed town with an older part that revolves around the church and another later one around the porched Plaça Major, with stately buildings from the s .XVI.

You can't miss the Santa Maria de Covet church , declared a National Monument of the 12th century, or the Sant Miquel church, in the center of Conques, as an example of a Romanesque temple that has been thoroughly reformed in the Baroque era .

From the Museu de la Conca Dellà they organize excursions to the Posa ravine , 4 kilometers from the town, to see the Cretaceous Park . It is a site where more than 2000 dinosaur footprints from 67 million years ago have been found. Also, trips to the Basturs site are being prepared. where you can see dinosaur eggs.

The entire forest area that surrounds the municipality favors nature itineraries and picking mushrooms in autumn.
