Holiday cottages Granyanella

The municipality was formed in the 19th century , from several towns of medieval origin. All of them have a similar history given that they were developed under the castles that preside over them and changed hands several times during the feudal period. There is evidence of its existence as early as the 12th century .

Historically, the origin of the nucleus lies in the town's castle, documented in 1143, when the Count of Barcelona needed to control the course of the Ondara River. Currently, there are not many remains of the primitive castle, but the Parish Church of Sant Salvador , of Romanesque origin, located next to the cemetery and outside the gated community, stands out. The temple is from the year 1112, but was reformed during the 18th century, a fact that can be seen in its facade and in the baroque style chapel. A characteristic element of Granyanella is that due to its status as a closed village , the town has a street that goes all the way around the tossal where the castle was located and is entered through a portal.

It is worth visiting the oldest population center in the municipality, the Iberian village of Pla de Tenalles , in La Móra, where several pieces of pottery have been found and are preserved in the Museu Marcal de l'Urgell. Remains of the old wall and some walls of the houses can still be seen.

The municipality has three beautiful churches: that of Sant Jaume de la Mòra , which combines Romanesque elements with others in the Baroque style; the Church of Sant Pau de Tordera , baroque style and built in the 18th century on an old chapel and the Church of Sant Pere de La Curullada , next to the ruins of the old castle and also in baroque style .

The flat territory makes the municipality an ideal place to explore on foot or by mountain bike . The paths that connect the different centers of population provide tourists with numerous opportunities to explore the surroundings and immerse themselves in the history of this Segarra region.
