Vestiges of human settlements dating back more than four thousand years have been found in Granollers. One of the most important ancient sites in the municipality is the Roman necropolis of Can Trullàs. You will also find a wide cultural offer. Be sure to visit the Museum of Granollers or the Teatre Auditori. Another of the city's attractions is the traditional Thursday market, where more than 450 stalls from different sectors are grouped together.

Discover its history

The first written references to Granollers are from the year 944. Throughout the municipality you will find buildings full of history. One of the best known is the Porchada. It was built in 1586 as a grain store. During the Spanish Civil War it was bombed. Another very interesting building is the Gothic church of Sant Esteve. It dates from the 15th century and was also damaged during the Civil War. Currently, the bell tower and remains of the walls remain. If you want to see a sample of Gothic architecture, visit the hospital of Sant Domènec, which was built in the 16th century.

Granollers is surrounded by natural spaces where you can do all kinds of outdoor activities. One of the best known places is the Can Cabanyes forest. It is shared with the municipality of Montmeló and has leisure areas and a nature classroom. You can also do different itineraries such as the Pedró route that reaches the banks of the Congost or the Radium spring route that crosses the Sierra de Ponent.
