What can you do in Gelida and its Holiday cottages?

Remains have been found that certify that the town was inhabited in megalithic, Iberian and Roman times. However, it is not until the 10th century when the first written documents appear where the town is mentioned. Traditions are deeply rooted in Gelida. One of the most well-known events is the Festa de Santa Llúcia. During the party, a bowl is prepared with ingredients contributed by all the villagers.

Visit the Gelida castle

In one of the highest areas of Gelida you will find its castle. It is documented from the year 945 and was the border between the Ordal mountain range and the county of Barcelona. Its walls and defense towers stand out as well as a set of anthropomorphic tombs that date from the 10th and 11th centuries. In the castle itself is the church of Sant Pere del Castell, a pre-Romanesque temple that was the town's parish until 1871. Guided tours are organized inside the castle where you can see the whole thing.

Gelida has a natural environment rich in vegetation. Throughout the territory of the term you will find many paths and trails that cross agricultural fields and reach the neighboring towns. We recommend that you plan an excursion and visit one of the many fountains throughout the municipality. Some of the best known are Sant Miquel, Cantillepa or la Freda. Be sure to visit the Torrelló caves, a space where you can learn about the sparkling wine production process.
