What you can discover in Gavet de la Conca from your holiday cottage
As a result of the medieval influence of the towns that make up the municipality, we highlight the different passages through portals, arcades and porches in the old enclosures of Aransís and Sant Salvador de Toló.
You can't miss the castle of Sant Gervàs de Sant Miquel de la Vall , which was excavated between 1978 and 1980. The found site reveals a castle from the s. XI with its tribute tower and an enclosure of circular towers . Also, an abandoned town , enclosed by a wall, in which there were about twenty houses with a rectangular plan formed by two or three rooms.
We also highlight the ruins of the medieval castle of Toló, located at the top of a hill from where you can get wonderful views over the basin. It is a castle that had occupied an area of 72 meters from east to west by 95 meters from north to south. In the middle are the remains of the church of Sant Vicenç de Toló . The castle had a single entrance, walls up to three meters high and was built using natural rocks, so access to the castle was very difficult. The strategic and dominant situation of the castle of Toló and the remains found suggest that it was already a fortification of the Low Roman Empire, which saw its defensive mission continue until the Middle Ages.
Another must is the visit to the Bonrepós estate , a medieval farmhouse that stands on top of a Romanesque hermitage. Currently, it acts as an environmental education and information center that can be accessed by everyone and is also dedicated to agricultural exploitation with surfaces of cereals and fodder. In addition, it hosts the brown cow study center with the aim of maintaining and improving the brown breed of the Pyrenees.

We recommend that you reach the castle of Sant Gervàs by walking through the so-called Camins del Jussà . It is a series of old horseshoe paths that have been recovered and reopened.
