Archaeological discoveries have confirmed the existence of an
ancient Roman town , called
Talarns , located around the municipality of les Pallargues. Apparently, it was used to supply the nearest towns, especially the old Lesso (now
Guissona), located about 12 Km. of distance
The oldest town in the municipality is
Concabella and its castle is already documented in the 11th century with a history closely linked to the reconquest as part of the line of defense castles of La
Segarra.
The official name Plans de Sió was acquired in 1974 when the village of Aranyó was added to the municipality

We definitely recommend visiting the Plans de Sió castles , some of which are in a very good state of conservation. Also very interesting and a great treasure are the churches of the towns and especially the Church of Sant Esteve de Pelagalls from the 12th century, declared Monument of the Architectural Heritage of Catalonia , the Esgésia de Sant Salvador de Concabella from the century. XIII and the small Church of Sant Pere de Muller.
