The first written documents that refer to the town are from the year 932. Remains of the passage of the Romans have been found in the area, as evidenced by the holes under the arch of the Vilomara bridge. Precisely this bridge passes over the Llobregat river and is one of the best known in the town. It is a Romanesque construction that has a length of 130 meters. In the past, it was made of wood and was used to follow the old Ral road.
From the center of el Pont de Vilomara i Rocafort, numerous paths lead into lush forests and cross neighboring towns. On the other hand, if you want to see some unique buildings in Catalonia, you must take a trip to Les Tines de la Vall del Flequer. It is a set of dry stone tubs that were built between the 18th and 19th centuries. In them, the wine was made in the vineyard and they are a clear vestige of the importance that the vineyard had in the region.
Around el Pont de Vilomara i Rocafort you will see historic buildings of great value. One of the most popular is the parish church of Our Lady of Divine Grace, a Neo-Gothic style building. If you want to discover objects of Catalan ethnology and archaeological remains, visit the Rocafort Museum. On the outskirts of the village is the pre-Romanesque hermitage of Santa Maria de Matadars, which dates from the middle of the 12th century.
