What can you do in Castelldans and its Holiday cottages?

The beginnings of Castelldans go back to an old Arab castle that dominated the town and of which there are no remains. In 1396 it passed into the hands of the Carthusian monastery of Escaladei. One of the buildings worth seeing is the church of Our Lady of the Assumption. It stands out for having a Renaissance facade and a bell tower with a square tower. Only the foundations remain of the old castle.

Visit the Museum of Oil and the Rural World

Agriculture is one of the main economic activities in Castelldans. Almond and olive groves stand out. If you want to discover what the whole process of oil production is like, you must visit the Museu de l'Oli i del Món Rural. It belongs to the Cooperativa del Camp de Sant Fortunat and is located in a place where there was an old oil mill. Walking around its facilities you will see tools and instruments related to olive cultivation and the oil industry.

Mas de Melons, a unique natural space

Castelldans has natural spaces of great interest. One of the most relevant is the Mas de Melons reserve, a protected area of great ornithological interest. There are several routes you can take on foot or by bike that will allow you to discover native birds and also dry stone constructions.
