Megalithic remains have been found in Cardedeu. There are also Roman remains due to the fact that the Via Augusta passed through the middle of the Vallès. However, the first written documents that refer to Cardedeu do not appear until the year 941.

A building full of history that you must see is the Tomàs Valvey Museum - Archive. It is about the reconstruction of an old pharmacy in which you can see boxes of old medicines and furniture from the 18th century.

Walking through the streets of Cardedeu you can see many buildings that have great historical value. One of the most important is the parish church of Santa Maria. Although it was built in the 16th century, visible remains of an earlier Romanesque building have been found. Throughout its history it has been burned twice. One in 1873 during the Carline Wars and the other in 1939 at the end of the Spanish Civil War. One of the most important elements of the church is its bell tower, which is square and has a height of 27 meters. We also recommend that you visit the chapel of Sant Corneli, a building where you will see pre-Romanesque elements.

Visit the Pins Rosers dolmen

One of the oldest monuments in Cardedeu is the Pins Rosers dolmen. It has the shape of an irregular circle and consists of nine monoliths. Although in the beginning the stones were planted vertically, currently some of them are upside down.
