Bigues i Riells was born between the 10th and 11th centuries around the parishes of Sant Pere and Sant Vicenç. However, remains of Roman villages have been found. Walking around the outskirts of the town you will see farmhouses of great architectural value such as Can Batlles, Can Badell or Can Ribes. Its gastronomy stands out for offering traditional dishes made with native products. Crocheted beans or Riells tomatoes are very well known.
Sant Miquel del Fai is one of the best-known natural spaces in Bigues i Riells. It is a place where you will find numerous caves and waterfalls as well as an important architectural heritage. The water coming from the Rossinyol and Tenes rivers has caused the formation of rock formations as well as stalactite and stalagmite caves, which gives this place a very unique appearance. Throughout the year, activities and workshops are organized for families, which allows you to enjoy a unique natural setting.
Throughout the territory of Bigues and Riells you will see paths that lead into its leafy forests. You have many mountain bike routes available that pass through towns such as Sant Celoni or Arbúcies and that offer you the possibility of discovering places of great scenic value. If you want to enjoy spectacular views of the Tenes river waterfalls, take the medieval path of Sant Miquel del Fai.
