The territory of Artesa de Segre has been inhabited by different peoples such as the Romans, the Visigoths and the Saracens. During a period of its history the town was under the rule of the abbots of Montserrat. You can't leave without going up to the top of the Castellot, a hill where a circular tower that belonged to an old castle is preserved and from where you can enjoy exceptional views.

Gastronomy is one of the strong points of the town. Every year the Fira del Meló is held, an event where you can taste melon from local producers. At this fair there is also a wine show in which wines with the DO Costers del Segre are introduced. Be sure to visit the goat cheese that is made in the center of Clua.
