12 New Year's resolutions that you can easily accomplish

This 2021 has arrived shaken, uncertain and for many of us eager to leave behind an extremely intense 2020. Many of the purposes we had for this last year need to be set aside because of the Covid and we learnt to live the day to day calmly and leave the great adventures for later.

2021 arrives with hope and new purposes. Now that we are going to start the new year, we offer you 12 resolutions (one for each month) that can be done so that you can accomplish them little by little:

January: Write a diary

If you still don’t, start writing a diary. Writing is one of the best therapies out there, and after the tumult of emotions this past year has left us, writing a diary is a great way to put your ideas in order. We have experienced a global pandemic, an economic crisis, confinement, closure of services, schools... in a few years, when you reread what you have written you will not believe it!

February: Redecorate the house


This last year you have certainly had to spend long periods at home confined and you have seen the importance of having a space to rest, enjoy and even telework.Therefore, one of the purposes for this new year is to make your home a pleasant (or even more pleasant) space to disconnect from the rest of the world and to make your nest.

March: Take care


It's a classic and everyone can extrapolate it to what they need most: quit smoking, exercise more, eat better, meditate, move more, prioritise yourself, have more time for yourself... No excuses!

April: Be kind


Covid has left us all speechless and made us feel very vulnerable. Be kind to people and look them in the eyes; this 2021 we are all wishing kind and hopeful words; we have a lot in common and it’s easy to make others happy with these little gestures.

May: Do something you’ve never done before


Sign up for a marathon (and finish it), take salsa classes, learn to crochet, do a threesome, go to a nudist beach, take a trip with your grandmother, start taking chess classes. Everything is worthwhile as long as they are things that bring you a plus to your year! It's all a matter of daring!

June: Enjoy time with your beloveds


This 2020 has taught us how important it is to be surrounded by those who love us. With some of them we couldn’t see each other that much as we would have liked, that is why this purpose for the new year is irreplaceable: spend time with yours, get together with them for a weekend and go to a country house, go out to dinner at a restaurant by the sea or just hug!

July: Go to a concert and dance


Hopefully this year we can enjoy the summer festivals and major holidays again! Nothing better to enjoy with friends like some good dances one summer night under the stars while you sing live the best hits!

August: Sleep one night on the beach


Sleep one night on the beach, with your partner, family, friends or yourself. Grab a blanket, as it cools at night, take a night bath, contemplate the immensity of the stars and let the first rays of the sun caress your face. Sunrise over the Mediterranean will be your best awakening.

September: Get to know the world


Get out of your comfort zone and explore new terrain. It can be from a hiking trail through the mountains or the hiking trails we have on the Costa Brava to around the world! Knowing other realities always makes you have a more open mind and come back with well-charged batteries!

October: Study


It doesn’t have to be a master’s degree (although if you feel like it, great). Recycle yourself, acquire new knowledge, research, feed your curiosity. Today, there are many online platforms that offer you very affordable and interesting distance courses of specific knowledge. Choose what you like best and go ahead!

November: Learn to play an instrument


One tip: if you like to sing while playing an instrument, ukulele is all the rage and with a few weeks of practice you can learn simple, familiar songs with just four chords! Do you dare?

December: Breathe conscientiously


Many times, a fact as basic as breathing seems to cost us. Putting consciousness in the breath stops us and anchors us in the present moment. Every day, 5 minutes of awareness on the way you breathe and you are sure to notice the difference!
