Tossa de Mar, a town with a lot of history
Tossa is
internationally renowned for its objective beauty. But really few people have looked into its history. Already since the Paleolithic the town of Tossa has been actively populated and so on up to the present day.
The famous Tossa Castle was built in 1187 by the abbot of Ripoll, who also gave the green light to build inside and outside the fortified area. This allowed the progressive growth of Vila Vella, that is to say, of the town itself. Nowadays, however, we can no longer enjoy the castle tower as it was, since it was demolished in 1917 for the construction of the current Tossa lighthouse.
Today Tossa is one of
the most renowned towns and cities on the Costa Brava. Located halfway between France and the Catalan capital, Tossa de Mar is one of the most sought-after destinations to spend your summer holidays in an apartment or rural house.
